Kaziranga Safari Zones

Kaziranga National Park is situated in the state of Assam and is one of India's top wildlife destinations. Famous for stunning views of nature and wildlife, Kaziranga is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering visitors an opportunity to enjoy nature and take photos. Kaziranga has the largest number of one-horned rhinoceroses anywhere in the world. Along with this large number of rhinoceroses, Kaziranga also has tigers, elephants, wild water buffalo, swamp deer, and a wide variety of birds. Safari Zones in Kaziranga National Park

1. Kohora Zone or Central Zone

The Central Zone in Kaziranga National Park is also called the Kohora Zone and is one of the most popular areas within Kaziranga. It is the main entry point into Kaziranga, where a lot of tourists come to enjoy their first safari experience at Kaziranga. There are many hotels and resorts located in this central zone. This place provides both elephant and jeep safaris. The Mihimukh riding tower is located here, which is the starting point for elephant safaris. It is advised to book Kaziranga National Park safari tickets in advance for this area if you hope to do both types of safari.

Wildlife in Kohora Zone:

Kohora Zone is the best place to spot Kaziranga’s one-horned rhinoceros, which is the main attraction of Kaziranga. In addition to the Rhinoceros, one may also see other animals as well, including tigers, swamp deer, wild buffalo, elephants, and sometimes even sloth bear – if one is fortunate. The Kohora Zone contains a large amount of grassland and water bodies, thus creating an ideal place where animals will return to drink from the water bodies. Moreover, there are several migratory birds in this particular zone, making it one of the top Kaziranga Safari Zones for experiencing wildlife in its natural environment.

2. Agaratoli Zone or Eastern Zone

The Agaratoli Zone in Kaziranga National Park is known for many different types of birds. The entrance point into this Tourism Zone of Kaziranga is the Agaratoli Tourism Office, where all the gypsy safari rides to this area will begin. For nature lovers and photographers, this part of the park is filled with many areas to take photographs of many types of birds and the flora found in the area. You can go on a jeep safari in this zone.

Wildlife in Agaratoli Zone :

The many types of wildlife and attractions of the Eastern Zone of Kaziranga National Park include many species of birds (both resident and migratory) that can be seen during the winter months. Species of birds in the park include Pelicans, storks, Eagles, kingfishers, and many species of waterfowl. You can find many animals, including elephants, deer, and, rarely, tigers. Additionally, tourists to this zone of Kaziranga can enjoy a boat safari to see wildlife and birds from different angles and perspectives.

3.Bagori Zone or Western Zone

The Bagori zone offers an alternative point for starting your ride (Bagori Tourism Office). It attracts tourists wishing to enjoy their safari experience because of its exceptional scenery and greater opportunity for wildlife viewing than other zones within the park. Photographers and nature lovers are drawn to it because of the abundant greenery.

Wildlife in Bagori Zone:

There are large expanses of grassland and water bodies in this part of the park that allow for a wide variety of animals to be seen moving through them. Hence, you can observe rhinos, elephants, swamp deer, water buffalo, tigers, and leopards while in this zone. Because of the absence of dense vegetation, it is much easier to spot wildlife in this zone compared to the others in Kaziranga National Park. Many people take their elephant safari in the Western Zone, as this zone provides an entirely different atmosphere and experience than other areas within Kaziranga National Park.

Burapahar Zone

This zone is near a village called Ghorakhat, where you will start your safari from the Rhinoland Park. The Burapahar Zone of Kaziranga is one of its least explored zones and will allow you to see and experience new things. The Burapahar Zone consists of hilly terrains, grasslands, and forests that make it a great place for wildlife viewing. Unlike other safari zones in Kaziranga, you can participate in trekking in this zone. This zone has many great viewpoints. The Rhinoland Park in this area is the starting point for the Jeep Safari.

There are lots of options for bird species to see while on the safari in the Burapahar Zone. You can see several elephants and deer in the Burapahar Zone of Kaziranga.
