How to Reach Kaziranga National Park

Kaziranga National Park is situated in parts of Nagaon, Golaghat, and Sonitpur districts of Assam, India. It is famous for the one-horned rhinoceros. The Park Headquarters is located in Bokakhat. Bokakhat is around 240 kilometres east of Guwahati, the capital of Assam and the entry point to northeastern India. There are five ranges in Kaziranga. These include the Eastern Range at Agaratoli (about 4 kilometres northeast of Bokakhat), the Central Range at Kohora (about 20 kilometres west of Bokakhat), the Western Range at Bagori (about 12 kilometres west of Kohora), the Burapahar Range at Ghorakati (about 25 kilometres west of Bagori), and the Northern Range at Biswanath (about 168 kilometres by road). is advised to book the Kaziranga National Park safari in advance for a smooth experience. To Guwahati by Air

For anyone travelling from outside of North-East India, flying to Guwahati is the best method to get to Kohora. There are many flights to and from Delhi, Kolkata, Imphal, Agartala, Bagdogra, Dibrugarh, Silchar, and Jorhat from Guwahati. It takes four to five hours to travel by car from Guwahati to Kohora or Bagori. There are flights from Guwahati and Kolkata to Jorhat. It takes one and a half hours to reach Kohora from Jorhat by road. Silchar has good connections to Kolkata and Guwahati. You can also get off at Dibrugarh, but the road trip to Kohora would be lengthy. !

By Rail to Guwahati or Jorhat

Guwahati is accessible by train, which has excellent connections to the rest of India. You can reach Kohora by road from Guwahati. Additionally, there are trains from Guwahati and Dibrugarh to Jorhat. You can also reach Kohora by road after getting off at Jorhat.

  • Nearest Station: Pipariya Railway Station (PPI) — only 47 km away.
  • Major Hub: Itarsi Junction (ET) — approx. 70 km away, a major rail crossroads.
  • Transfer: Just 1.15 hours from Pipariya or 2 hours from Itarsi to reach Madhai.

By Road from Shillong d

Jorabat, which is 80 kilometres away from Shillong on the NH-40, is the route that leads from Shillong to Kohora. You can travel through Umling and Nongpoh en route. After turning right on the NH-37 from Jorabat, one can travel via Sonapur, Kaliabor Tiniali (a junction from which one can divert to Tezpur), Burapahar (Ghorakati), Bagori, and Kohora.

By Road from Guwahati

Kaziranga's primary tourist destination is Kohora. It is located along National Highway 37, which connects Jorhat to the east with Guwahati to the west. It is directly accessible by road from Guwahati on NH-37. Depending on the time of day and traffic, it could take four to five hours. Guwahati is followed by Sonapur, Khetri, Kaliabor Tiniali (junction from which one can deviate to Tezpur), Jakhlabandha, Burapahar (Ghorakati), Bagori, and Kohora.

By Road from Jorhat

Sibsagar is located approximately 56 kilometres east of Jorhat on the NH-37, and Dibrugarh, which is located farther east on the NH-37, approximately 140 kilometres from Jorhat, can also be accessed from Jorhat. Kohora is located roughly 88 kilometres west of Jorhat. Jorhat, Dergaon, Rangamati, Tiniali (divert here for NH-39 to Golaghat & Dimapur), Behora, Bokakhat, and Kohora make up the road from Jorhat to Kohora.

By Road from Tezpur

Itanagar, which is located approximately 165 kilometres east of Tezpur on NH-52, is another way to go to Kohra from Tezpur. Tezpur city and Kaliabor are connected on NH-37 at Kaliabor Tiniali by a connecting road that crosses the Brahmaputra River at Kalia Bhomora. Kaliabor is 25 kilometres away from Tezpur. From there, Jakhlabandha, Burapahar (Ghorakati), Bagori, and Kohora may be reached by turning left on the NH-37.

By Road from Golaghat

Dimapur, which is 85 kilometers south of Golaghat on NH-39, and Diphu, which is roughly 120 kilometres south of Golaghat. From Golaghat, head north on NH-39 to the NH-37 Tri-Junction in Numaligarh. Turn left on NH-37 from the triple point. The distance between Golaghat and Kohora is around 50 kilometres.

By Road from Silchar

Nagaon (Bypass) is accessible from Silchar via Bandarkhal, Jatinga, Haflong, Mahur, Maibang, Lumding, Doboka, and Kathiatoli on National Highway 54.
